Girl’s Varsity Basketball

As this winter comes to an end, our Girl’s Varsity Basketball is wrapping up another great season. They are currently first in the region and are hoping to continue strong and pull out a region championship.

Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach, Stacey Hughes, stated: “I’m not really too surprised about this season. We had a talented group returning and have had high expectations since last season. I am proud of how they have been playing together as a team more than anything.”

One of the games that has really stood out was the shot made by Senior, Ellen Nardella in the game against Sumter. Down by three points and with four seconds left on the clock, Ellen was able to go full court to knock down a three and take the team to overtime and win.

“It was a very exciting game!” exclaimed Coach Hughes.

Although the entire team has worked together to pull of a great season, Coach Hughes has recognized four seniors in particular: “We have 4 seniors on our squad, three who have been playing varsity since 8th grade. This group of young ladies have been having playing very consistent on a nightly basis. Alexis Tomlin, Cheyenne Pyles, Ellen Nardella and Winter Winfree.”

Pyles stated, “As a team, we all promised each other we would work hard at every practice and play our best every game. We gave our blood, sweat and tears this season. We left it all on the court.”

The team would love to see more of our students and staff  supporting the Girl’s Basketball  and cheer them on as they go for the state championship on February 13th at CFHS against West Ashley at 6:30 pm.  Best of luck, Lady Panthers!
