A Magical Senior Trip

Kelsey Mitchell, Editor

As the school year comes to an end, the 2018 Senior Class is participating in all of their “lasts”. On April 12-15, 42 of our seniors attended their last school trip together: the Senior Trip to Disney World and Universal Studios.

This is a trip that takes place each year for the senior class at Carolina Forest. A couple of our school’s staff members who make the whole trip possible are Renea Stephens, Amy Perry and Jenna Mason.

While Mrs. Perry plans out the days in the parks and how time will be spent, Mrs. Stephens is in charge of the travel plans concerning the trip. Stephens stated: “We pretty much have the itinerary planned from one year to the next. In the next few weeks, I will book the rooms for next year and secure the buses. Then, students start their payment plans in early September and finish the end of January.”

Aside from all the planning and work they do to make it all happen, the teachers are able to experience a fun time as well.

Mrs. Stephens shared one of her favorite memories from this year’s trip: the Avatar Ride! “It was absolutely awesome and well worth the 140 minute wait – and the sprint to get in line,” mentioned Stephens.

Mrs. Mason also enjoyed her time in Disney, stating: “My favorite part of this trip was going with an awesome group of people. The students were amazing, and I was able to attend with two of my former high school teachers.”

Some of the students who attended the trip also shared some details about their time in Disney World and Universal Studios. The attendees of the trip gave some advice to the rising seniors who will be attending the trip next year. They mention that you should make the most of the trip, bring tons of sunscreen and money, wear comfy shoes, and ride as many rides as you can.

Students have also shared some of their embarrassing moments that happened on the trip. Aly Williamson’s embarrassing moment was, “I cried while meeting Chewbacca because I love him so much. He’s my idol.”

Cheyenne Snelling also shared an embarrassing moment she experienced. “About 90 people watched me dance like an idiot while waiting in line for a ride,” she mentioned.

Students also shared some of their best memories from this trip. Many people enjoyed particular rides, the “Meet and Greets” with all the characters, and spending time with friends.

The Disney Senior Trip is a fantastic way to create forever memories. Chaeli Castle shared,”It’s our last big thing before graduation with my best friends.”

Finley MacIver enjoyed “meeting Merida and conquering the mountains.”

The 2018 Senior Class had a blast on their Senior Trip. Thank you to all of the staff who works together all year long to pull off such an awesome trip for the Senior Class.

To the upcoming Seniors: Start planning for your Senior Trip now. It will come quicker than you think, and you will have a great time!
