We all know Michael Jordan as the NBA legend who carried the Chicago Bulls to six rings and the owner of the Charlotte Hornets. Now he is donating seven million dollars to open medical clinics for both children and adults in Charlotte, North Carolina; the two facilities will be known as the Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Clinics.

The medical clinics will be located in the lower-income of the city. They will provide care for children and adults insured and uninsured.

“Through my years of working with Novant Health, I have been impressed with their approach and their commitment to the community,” Jordan, a North Carolina native, said in a release to the media on October 7, 2019. “It is my hope that these clinics will help provide a brighter and healthier future for the children and families they serve.”

Jordan was motivated by a study that found poor children in Charlotte have the worst odds of those of any of the top 50 cities in the United States to lift themselves out of poverty.

“This gift will transform the lives of thousands of families and children living in poverty-stricken communities,” said Carl Armato, president and CEO of Novant Health. “We are thankful to Michael for his generosity. The gift will remove barriers to high-quality health care in some of the most vulnerable communities.”

Michael Jordan, now 54, is striving to make a change in Charlotte. He is aiming to provide more medical care for the struggling people in his hometown. The clinics are projected to open within the next year.
