Disney Plus – A Quick Review

Megan Evans, Staff Writer

Disney just released a streaming program that streams Disney TV shows and movies that launched on November 12, 2019. As soon as it aired, it started trending tremendously on social media. On its first day, Disney Plus registered more than 10 million customers.

Disney plus includes Disney proper, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, and National Geographic. There is a free trial for seven days. Disney Plus starts at $5.99 a month for regular and $12.99 a month with ESPN Plus and Hulu. You can pay $69.99 for a whole year and save 16% rather than paying $5.99 per month. At the moment, it is one of the cheapest streaming companies. Netflix starts at $8.99 a month and Hulu is $5.99 a month but includes advertisements. HBO is $15.99 a month while Amazon Prime is $8.99 a month

Disney Plus is competing with these big streaming companies as well. Netflix, HBO Now, and the soon to be released Apple TV Plus are going to be the biggest competition for Disney Plus.

In October, Disney and Verizon announced a deal that gives Verizon users with 4G LTE or 5G unlimited account, as well as new customers of Verizon’s Fios and 5G home internet services.

Lizzie Oliver, a junior, said, “I think Disney Plus is great. It has some great classics on there.”

Not everyone, however, is pleased with Disney Plus.

“No, I was very underwhelmed because it does not have all the movies and TV shows I was expecting,” added Mackenzie Wilson, also a junior.

I did a free trial myself and Disney Plus is worth the hype. It has a great variety of all the old and new kids movies and shows. I really enjoyed watching. It is cheap and has “the goods” everyone wants to see.
