CFHS Showcase: Orlandofest

Our Carolina Forest Showcase attended Orlandofest in Orlando, Florida to compete in a choir competition. They were presented with the superior award in the show choir category and placed 3rd in traditional choir.

The students from CFHS who competed during Orlandofest were Isaiah Barnes, Madison Beckles, Zowie Bennett, Cooper Borque, Ireland Bridgeman, Casey Brooks, Chris Carbone, Cora Collier, Justin Cox, DJ Davis, EJ Emond, Karleigh Floyd, Quintasia Graham, Bella Gross, Nickson Hamm, Charlie Hawkins, Hailey Helmer, Ta’bias Hennigan, Riley Hinz, Chasia Horton, Attila Hunte, Noah Jeffords, Peyton Joy, Emilie Milone, Luis Morales, Caleb Morgan, Taylor Quinn, Royelle Rice, Ashanti Richmond, Shelby Ross, Khlaub Sam Fong-Tala, Victoria Weeks, Brayan Yanez and Trinity Yurack-Farah.

Back in February, showcase put on a benefit show to the public to raise money so they could attend the competition in Orlando. They performed four sets of songs from iconic musicals and movies. The benefit show was very successful and got our showcase students to Florida!

On Thursday, April 11 our students left bright and early to head to Florida. While they were on the trip, they attended the Universal Theme Park for two days and went to experience all of the magic. On Saturday, April 13 they geared up to hit the stage. Before each different ensemble’s performance, each group had wa 30-minute -warm-up. Showcase performed the songs “Dancing in the Street”, “Get Ready”, “I’ll be there”, “Thriller” and “Carnaval del Barrio.” For the classical category they performed “Bring me a Little Water, Sylvie.”

Junior Zowie Bennett shares, “My favorite part of performing at Orlandofest is the energy of being on stage and performing in front of people. I also loved seeing all of the different groups that were there and just being in Florida overall.”

Showcase has been rehearsing these numbers since January in order to be fully prepared for the competition. They were very successful in this competition and had a great time in Florida.
