Our very own Carolina Forest High School offers a large amount of clubs exceeding the number of over 35 organizations! Countless organizations within the school are made to fit everyone’s unique interests. From science to Italian, to school-led community service programs, you are sure to find a club that is perfect for you.
Stepping out of your comfort zone, especially if you’re new to the school, can be a difficult task, but in the end, you will be glad you did. It is important to become involved in clubs surrounding your school for countless reasons. Being a part of a club can help you surround yourself with others who enjoy the same things as you, build your communication and leadership skills, and help you figure out what you want to pursue in the future.
One of our many clubs is Mock Trial. To join Mock Trial, you have to be enrolled in the law education class offered here at the school.
Advisor of Mock Trial, Jeffrey Bean, stated, “The purpose of Mock Trial is to expose students to the principles of law through role play. Through this exposure, students will learn and use elements of Constitutional law, Criminal law, and Civil law.”
While developing all of these skills are very important to gain life experience that will help you in the future, being a part of clubs and organizations can help further your appeal to colleges when the time comes.
According to the College Board, being a part of clubs in your high school career shows the admissions committee “your values and if they’re aligned with the college’s values. Participating in these organizations long-term can demonstrate your commitment level and work ethic, which is an important skill to have.”
Another one of our organizations is The Panther Ambassador Program. It is run by Laurie Praefke and Sierra Billhimer. To be a part of this organization, a student must uphold a strong character and be a leader at the school. You must maintain high academic standards and have a strong attendance record as well. If this is something you may be interested in, students must apply for the following year in April!
Sophomore Malea Gore declared, “I would suggest becoming a Panther Ambassador because it’s an easy and fun way to get involved with the school. You get to meet new people, participate in activities, and it also looks good on college resumes.”
Dalanie Lewis, sponsor of Earth Club, shared, “I like that Earth Club gives students a really easy way to get community service hours. Also, a lot of students that end up joining the club don’t know the benefits of recycling until they start participating in it and they find that there are easy ways that they can start implementing it into their lives.”
Find something that you are interested in and figure out when the club meets or if there are any requirements for joining. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone because you may miss some of the most enjoyable moments of your high school career.
