With November right around the corner, the presidential election is coming up. Every presidential election is on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November.
This election occurs every four years and determines who the United States president will be. This year is the sixtieth election in the U.S. It is between Donald Trump,Jr. and Kamala Harris.
On Election Day, U.S citizens who are 18-years-old and older are ponents, including the registration of voters, the nomination of candidates, campaigning, the casting of votes, and the counting of the votes.”
At Carolina Forest High School, some of our students are eligible to vote. Although you are still in high school, voting should still be taken seriously.
“Voting is important, especially for young people. It gives them a voice in shaping the future of their country. By participating in the electoral process, young people can influence policies that directly affect their lives and the direction of the nation,” Will adds.
A person voting is only counted as one single vote; however, it still matters.Voting adds up and can decide who the next president will be. Voting at the early age of 18 can help prepare the younger generation for what’s ahead for the presidential future.
Teacher Toni McDowell comments, “As a voter, our responsibility is to stay informed of the issues affecting our country and support the candidate that best aligns with our views in solving those issues. Our founding fathers established the structure to allow our executive branch to build a platform based on the needs of the people.”
Even though your occupational career as a high school student hasn’t quite started yet, it’s always beneficial to help prepare yourself for a better future by voting.
The 2024 elections will be held on November 5. All U.S citizens should be registered before Election Day and do their part to vote.
Overall, voting is important because it not only is a key feature of being a U.S citizen but also helps decide what candidate will be representing our nation as a whole for the next four years.
