It’s that time of year when the high school football season is beginning to come to a close. The Carolina Forest Varsity Football team has had a fantastic season.
The Panthers started their season off with games against West Brunswick, Hartsville, Hough, Irmo, and Ashley Ridge. The start of the season did not look extremely promising as their record was 1-3-1, but these were all non conference.
Their season took a flip, and they ended their season 6-3-1 with a 5-0 record in the 5A Region 6, also known as the Beach Region. The boys had a tough schedule playing against schools that they wouldn’t typically play against, but they blew out all of the schools in our region: Socastee 37-3; St. James 62-14; Myrtle Beach 52-38; Conway 42-0; North Myrtle Beach 49-24.
Senior Tight-End Joe Ober shared, “Overall, I feel very good about this season. We had a rough start to the season during the non-conference, but I think we came back and finished our regular season off very strongly.”
The game against NMB determined who won the Region 6 championship this season, and the Panthers won the championship. This is the first ever back to back region championship win for the Panthers.
“As a senior who played on CF’s Varsity team for the past two years, I am extremely grateful and proud of all of my teammates, coaches, and training staff as this was the first ever back to back region championship in CF history. It was a true honor to be on the team,” stated Ober.
Along with this accomplishment there were a few other accomplishments the team had this season. The 2024 Beach Region player of the year was Junior Running Back, Jaryn Fox. Fox rushed the ball a total of 187 times for 1,507 yards and a total of 18 touchdowns this season.
That was not the only awarded player out of CF. The 2024 Beach Region Defensive Player of the year was awarded to Senior Safety, Charles McCray. He was a dominant factor of the defense playing multiple positions.
Finally, the 2024 Beach Region Coach of the Year was awarded to Marc Morris. Morris has been coaching at CF for 10 years. He along with the other coaches have put in many hours of hardwork and dedication into preparing these players for their season.
Morris shared, “The boys worked hard all season to get this point. I want to congratulate the boys on this championship, but the season is not over yet. Let’s try to win the Lower State Championship.”
The boys had a fantastic season, and this is not the end! They had a first round bye in playoffs, and they will continue this week with a playoff game Friday at home kickoff is set for 7:00 against James Island.
Good luck, Panthers!
