For the first time in Carolina Forest High School history, the varsity cheer team earned third place at qualifiers! For the past three years Carolina Forest Varsity Cheerleading (CFVC) has gone to States, but this year is different. This is the first year that CFVC placed in the top three in the state of South Carolina for 5A D1 cheerleading qualifiers.
The Panther cheerleaders have worked so hard for this accomplishment all season. Their season started in May of 2024 to gear up for the thrilling competition season. Throughout their season, our varsity cheer team navigated through the ups and downs to prove that they are meant to be top in the state.
Senior Molly Pruitt commented,“One memory I have loved this season was the moment when we had competed at our Myrtle Beach competition, and we got off the floor with a near-perfect routine and we were all celebrating this huge accomplishment. Everyone was so proud of how far we had come since the beginning of the season.”
Although CFVC cheers for the football team, they practice and work hard for their competition season. They perform a two minute thirty second routine filled with stunts, tumbling, jumps, and motions.
The cheerleaders put everything all on the mat to show people how they deserve to be known and recognized.
“Competing is the most exhilarating feeling ever. You are so nervous yet so excited to take the mat with your closest friends. There is nothing more you want than to hit a perfect routine and make everyone proud,” senior Sam Stolfi stated.
On Saturday November 23, 2024, CFVC competed at states to end their season. They placed fifth in the state of South Carolina and scored a 281.5.
“One thing I am going to miss about cheer is bus rides. Although this is a very casual part of what we do, it has always been time well spent. Whether it is before a competition and we are pumping each other up or after a competition and we are debriefing in our comfy clothes. It’s a great bonding experience for the team as we get to hang out and be with each other,” added Pruitt.
Overall, CFVC had an outstanding season with scoring the highest they have ever scored which was a 307 at their Myrtle Beach Classic competition. They will never forget how they made history for CF and created so many fun filled memories that they will always remember along the way.
