Creativity is super important in our lives. When we do creative things like drawing, writing stories, or making music, we can show our feelings and thoughts. This makes us feel happy and helps us understand ourselves better. Creativity also brings people together. When we share our creative work, like art or music, we can connect with others and learn about different cultures and ideas.
During each semester, our CFHS Art Department holds an annual art show. It has art ranging from 2D, 3D, posters, paintings, ceramics, and paper mache. Two-dimensional (2D) art refers to any form of visual art that exists in two dimensions, and 3-dimensional (3D) art is any art that is created in three dimensions, rather than two-dimensional like a drawing.
The Carolina Forest Art Show is a prime example of pure talent and creativity. Many students come up with their own unique styles and techniques of art.
For our fall art show, in thrid place for 2D, Emma Kirchner created “MIB.” Third place 3D was Olivia Crolley who created “Hearty Breakfast.” Then for second place 2D and 3D, Ariel Griffith won 2D for “Hope From Blood” and Zayden West won 3D called “F-15E Concept Fighter Jet.”
West says, “I enjoyed making it because military aircraft fascinates me and doing research on it widened my knowledge on this aircraft. It took me about 2 weeks to make and it’s all made out of cardboard.”
Congratulations to Leann Zacharias for winning best in the show for her work, “Giraffe”!
“The giraffe took me about a month to completely finish. It’s solely made out of clay, and once it was fired, I painted all the spots for the giraffe which took me about a week to complete and perfect,” shared Zacharias.
Abigail Dew, the ceramics teacher and Art Honor Society sponsor, added, “The art show is always a highlight of the semester for me because I get to see how creative our students are and how hard they have worked in their art classes. Mrs. Farrington and I are both grateful to have the support of our team of art teachers, and an amazing group of NAHS students that helped set up the show.”
Our school’s creative art show was a big success. It showed off the amazing talents and hard work of all the students. There were many different kinds of art, like paintings, sculptures, and even digital art. Everyone in the community came together to enjoy and celebrate the students’ art. This event not only made us proud but also showed how important creativity is in learning and growing.
