Fellowship of Christian Athletes, (FCA), is a world-wide organization that is designed to spread the Christian faith to student athletes. At CFHS, every student is welcome to participate in the special events and weekly meetings.
FCA has many Biblically-based core values. The four main values are the following: Integrity- We will demonstrate Christ-like wholeness, privately, and publicly. Proverbs 11:3; Serving- We will model Jesus’ example of serving. John 13:1-17; Teamwork- We will express our unity in Christ in all our relationships. Philippians 2:1-4; Excellence- We will honor and glorify God in all we do. Colossians 3:23-24
In the Forest, our huddle is led by Maddy Erneston, who is the Carolina Forest and Conway High School and middle school FCA representative. Along with Erneston, we have Pastor Matthew Smith from Myrtle Beach Christian Church, and three CF teacher sponsors: Brodie Hillman, David Lovette, Ann Twigg.
Erneston shared, “If you’re a student leader, you are learning to grow your faith and teach others about the word. On Monday’s leaders have a group Bible study and learn how to lead devotionals, so that on Tuesday’s students can lead devotional during campus huddles.”
FCA campus huddles are student run meetings where the leaders get together to play games, lead prayer and devotion.
“I enjoy being a part of the Carolina Forest FCA. I began attending huddle meetings last year, and this year I became a student leader. Being a leader has allowed me to grow in my faith while also teaching others. I would recommend attending huddle meetings to all students who are based here at CF,” shared junior Karleigh Floyd.
FCA holds and attends many events throughout the school year. An event many students attend is Fields of Faith. This year a few CF huddle leaders, along with Erneston, attended St. James Fields of Faith. During this event, they were able to worship, hear other’s testimonies, and join together with others to learn more about Jesus.
The students are also able to help out in community service-based events to help to give back to their community. This includes things such as Operation Christmas Child and coat/toy drives. Students also help in assisting at Christmas parties and other events for local churches.
If you are interested in becoming a part of the FCA family, start by attending our huddle meetings Tuesdays during lunch in the mini-gym. We are looking forward to having you at FCA!
