Sands Ocean Club hosted the 20th Annual Myrtle Beach Polar Plunge on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Although the ocean was only 45 degrees it was sunny and 65 degrees out, many people from around Horry County gathered at the beach to take the brave plunge or cheer for the participants.
The Myrtle Beach Polar Plunge is all about raising awareness and funds for an incredible cause: providing year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. By participating in the Polar Plunge, you’re helping Special Olympics athletes improve their physical fitness, build confidence, demonstrate courage, and experience the joy of competition. It’s not just about jumping into cold water—it’s about making a difference in the lives of athletes and showing that you care.
Whether a person hops, skips, dances, or flops into the Atlantic, the Polar Plunge is an unforgettable experience. The Polar Plunge is more than just a fundraising event—it’s a celebration of community spirit, kindness, and the power of coming together for a common cause. It’s a chance to be… “FREEZIN FOR A REASON!”
Kelsey Tinker, one of our CFHS teachers, shared, “I decided to take the plunge to support CFHS special Olympics. I enjoyed being surrounded by people supporting the same cause! The people (students and staff) who I plunged into absolutely made the experience!”
For a minimum donation, plungers were able to take part in this exciting event. This year Carolina Forest raised $4,404. All together the 2025 Myrtle Beach Polar Plunge raised $138,961.
This invite was truly an amazing experience. This was my first time attending the plunge, and I will definitely be doing it again next year even.
