Student Council is a committee of students who represent their peers and serve as a voice for the student body within the school. Carolina Forest High School has an excellent committee. The council typically has grade level presidents and vice presidents. Student body has a president, vice president, secretary, and communication director.
There are four key roles for being involved with the Student Council. Representation, leadership, communication, and advocacy. These are crucial for students to have and gain.
CFHS’s Student Council advisor is Kristen Kilhenney. She, along with a few other teachers at CFHS, help run Student Council and are involved with the school.
The student body officers include Julia Harell as President, Brodie Shupperd for Vice President and Emily Waters as Secretary. London Armstrong and Ella Horkon are Student Body Communication Directors.
Our senior advisor is Shelly Rutherford. The members include Meaja Dozier-Edwards, Samanatha Stolfi, Lydia Gardner, and Keiana Smith.
The junior advisor is Brennan Allen. These members include Rocky Volpe, Anna Kate Hamilton, Gianna Meehan, and Taylor Greenstein.
Sophomore advisors are Kaycee Baransky, and the co-advisor is Victoria Moore. The members include Adriana Guarino, Gabriella Mileo, Audrina Acosta, Jessica Vundavalli, Katherine Brown, Laila Gail, Christina Wiles, and Sophia Ayala.
The freshmen advisor is Delanie Lewis. The following are members Nikki Negron, Ereney Nada, Corinne Remer, and Molly Guilliams.
Harell, our Student Body President, stated, “I was motivated to run for Student Body President because of Sofia Morant, the prior president. Sofia is a natural leader who inspired me to take what I’ve learned as secretary of my class for the last three years in Student Council to the next level. Her kindness and faith in me gave me the drive to run and Lead CFHS.”
Sophomore member Guarino shared, “I have been in Student Council since 6th grade, but I joined CF Student Council my 9th grade year. My favorite memory was winning the spirit stick last school year during Homecoming week. One of the biggest challenges is planning events, but with the help of others and ideas that get the job done.
“My favorite Student Council memory was helping out with the senior picnic last year. This tradition at our school is very fun-filled yet bittersweet, as seeing the seniors get to have fun as a class is something I look forward to this year,” added Harell.
The Student Council benefits the school by organizing different events for the whole student body and leading these events. In the community we help out with various charity events like Backpack Buddies that help with our own school district.
Kilhenney stated, “I wanted to get involved in student activities on campus to help inspire young adults to be leaders at school and in the community.”
Kilhenny’s favorite memory this year was taking a trip to Charleston, SC to help volunteer at a food bank but afterwards we were able to go explore at Patriots Point.
Kilhenny voiced, “It was fun to see them outside the school setting making a difference.”
