The Carolina Forest High School’s Band has had many accomplishments this year. They have been successful at many competitions during this season.
The band’s football halftime shows have always been a big hit. Leading these halftime shows was the band’s drum major, Ian Hand, who played a huge part in making each performance so special.
“Because I was the Drum Major, I’ve become a much better leader the last two years. I’ve also been a part of many school events where me and a few others in our group were asked to play. Overall, we (CFHS Band) get to do things that other activities at the school do not get to do,” commented Ian Hand.
Band is more than just a program, but it is a family-like community. Students share the love for music which brings them closer together. They have made many memories throughout this year, not just playing instruments. They spend many hours practicing for each of their performances and bettering their skills.
“I am a senior in high school, and I play the alto saxophone. Being a member of band exposed me to various opportunities to grow as a musician, as well as a leader. Band also allowed my social skills to expand, helping me gain countless friendships. My favorite memory from Band this year was winning our last marching band competition. Especially as a senior, winning your last competition of the year is an incredible experience. Band has been nothing but fun and eventful for me, and I highly recommend it to everyone,”stated Collin Hewitt, member of CFHS Band.
Even when the school year ends, work for band does not stop. Over the summer, the band department hosts a training camp where CFHS Band continues their skills and preparing for the upcoming school year. Although band camp involves hard work, they also make it fun by having things like Spirit week, where students can dress up.
“Being a member of band has allowed me to be a part of different school events like football games or pep rallies. My favorite memory from band this year was spirit week for marching band camp,” shared Isabella Sears, a band member.
The Carolina Forest High School Band’s achievements this year showcase their talent and dedication. From halftime shows to captivating competition performances, their hard work has truly paid off.
