During the Carolina Forest High School Art Show, which was held Tuesday, May 13, the CFHS Art Department was proud to showcase the incredible talent and creativity of our student artists.
Art is important because it allows people to create their vision, draw and think outside of the box, and it allows them to express themselves. It’s important to take at least one art class so you not only have the credit, but you get to learn what art is all about.
First place for 2D was Sarah Willing with her artwork ‘Heaven’s Light.” The first place winner for 3D was Samantha Sefchok and her artwork “Diane.” The second place winners for 2D and 3D are Faith Vahaly with “Crushed” and Zoey Rodgers with “Barn Owl.” The third place winners for 2D and 3D are Anna Wright with “To Wield a Trident” and Zayden West with “Airborne Attack.”
Ms. Dew, an art teacher, mentioned, “It feels great to see so their art work come together but to see them look at their artwork and how proud they are.”
Dew also commented, “I think it’s really important to try new things, and taking it in high school is different than taking it in elementary or middle school.”
The People’s Choice winners were selected by the teachers and students who went to the community room and looked at all the artwork. There was a QR code on the wall where everyone could scan where you can fill out a form to pick your favorite artworks.
Our winner for 2D was Gwenyth Fougere, and the winner for 3D is Mia Bramlett.
Senior Anna Wright commented, “I am very happy to be one of the winners for this year’s art show. I worked all second semester on all five of these pieces and am so glad it paid off.”
Another winner, a junior, Samantha Sefchock, stated, “I was so excited and shocked that I won! The name of my piece was inspired by my late grandma’s name since she is where I drew my inspiration from.”
It was so cool to see everyone’s artwork in The Forest. From vibrant paintings and drawings to bold sculptures and mixed creations, these work reflect the diverse voices of our students.
