This year Carolina Forest High School’s sports had very successful seasons. CFHS offers track and field, softball, baseball, soccer, boys golf, boys tennis, as well as lacrosse. All of our sports teams have shown their drive and dedication this season, which has truly paid off.
Spring sports offer a unique mix of teamwork, physical activity, and work ethic, giving athletes a chance to learn and develop new skills.
Track and Field
In lane 1, we have track and field. Many of the players have had a wonderful season. Many made it to the State Championship; Zayveon Winns was one of those players earning himself first place in the men’s 400m. At mid-states Miracle McLean won the high jump and triple jump.
Boys Golf
Golf earned themselves a hole-in-one! They have done an outstanding job this season. They earned second place at the Lower State Championship in Sumter, SC.
Boys Lacrosse
CFHS boys lacrosse had to overcome boundaries this season. The growth they’ve shown as a team has been a joy for their coach, Ryan Gross, to watch.
“The main highlight of the season was going back to playoffs. The team came together at the end of the season and will be very competitive next year. We had five players make all county, five players made lower states team, and one played in the North South game,” stated Gross.
Girls Lacrosse
This year the girls lacrosse record was 11-7. Not only has CFHS girls lacrosse had a wonderful season, but they also grew very close as a team. For most athletes, the teamwork and sisterhood you create while playing a sport, like lacrosse, is what makes each game worthwhile.
Boys Tennis
Swinging the season away, next up is boys tennis! This year many of the older players showed leadership and mentored the younger players. This only made their team bond stronger, on and off the court.
According to Coach Shame Dular, the second match against Waccamaw demonstrated the grit and toughness of this year’s team.
The team did a great job of improving each week. Our tennis games were more consistent and took better advantage of opportunities. They finished second in the region only losing to State Champion Myrtle Beach after some unexpected turnover of the roster in the offseason,” added Dular.
Girls Soccer
Soccer has had such a great season. This year they earned Region champs and had six athletes make All Region. Leading CFHS women’s soccer to victory, is Coach Goodman, who won Region Coach of the year. Kassi Javetski received Region Offensive Player of the Year. Other players who made Regions are Gabby Carbone, Anna Kate Hamilton, Annika Rauhut, Maddie Runyon, and Marigny Whalen.
Anna Kate Hamilton, a junior, played a huge role in making this team so special.
“I love to play soccer because it has brought me a second family. I’ve gotten so close to all my teammates, and it’s them who make me want to play every year! Everyone played as hard as they could each and every game. We all play so well together and work as a great team. This year we had such a great season, and I’m so excited for next year,” Hamilton shared.
Boys Soccer
These boys earned second in the region and their overall record was 12-5. Boys soccer has also had an amazing season this year. Each practice their skills progress and each game their hard work would pay off.
Softball
Varsity Softball has experienced so much triumph this year. This year they were able to make it to Regions. This year Varsity’s record was 17-11-1.
Nevaeh Green, a junior, is a member of the softball organization and has made many memories playing.
“We had a tournament in Florence, SC, that was very fun. Many teams travelled far to participate. In between games, we had team bonding; we played board games and did activities,” Green commented.
Baseball
This year their record was 18-10. Two of the players received all region awards. Parker Reavis won Region Pitcher of the Year and Gatlin Pasco won an All-Region Award as well. One of the many memories these boys have created this season is that when they went to the playoffs, the whole team bleached their hair. It was a sign of the team’s brotherhood and signified their success this season.
To wrap up, Carolina Forest High Schools spring sports have been very victorious this year. These athletes have grown with each practice and performed better each match/game. From the crack of the bat in baseball to the swish of the net in lacrosse, these spring sports provide excitement and opportunities for athletes to shine.
