The Carolina Forest Dance Team is always practicing and finalizing their routines for football and basketball to show off their amazing skills and teamwork for the fall/winter season. Their dedication and energy bring excitement to every game, making them a vital part of school spirit.
This year’s dancers include the following students: Anabela Acosta, Audrina Acosta, Brielle Barnes, Takerria Barr, Bailey Broughton, Ella-Grier Chapman, Mauriana Cotton, Hailey Ellisor, Charlotte Fiorini, Braelynna Hake, Lilly Hestikind, Natalie Kwiatkowski, Abigail Lamfers, Amiyah McKnight, Lesley Medina Diaz, Janiah Norwood, and Lily Shiltz. Their coaches are Jennifer Corvino and Claire Alverson.
Amiyah McKnight, a sophomore, has been dancing for about two years and is committed to dance.
McKnight shared, “I tried cheer, but I didn’t enjoy it so I tried dancing which fit me a lot better, and I love meeting new people with the same interests as me.”
Having a good bond with a team helps to keep the routines or plays at a controlled pace. These dancers have a great bond with each other which shows us why they are so talented.
Lily Shiltz, another sophomore, has been dancing for seven years.
Shiltz said, “I love to dance, and I wanted to meet more people and performing is very fun to do.”
Jennifer Corvino has been the dance coach here at CFHS for four years. She also wants her performers to do the best they can although they joke around sometimes but still have amazing routines. She is very encouraging and out-going.
Corvino stated, “What I like most about coaching the dance team is seeing the growth in the team and the bond I build with the team.” “We are able to joke around at practice and still be productive. I am super proud of all the girls and their recent growth and accomplishments.”
Corvino believes that she is a person who people aren’t afraid to talk to/interact with her.
“Most of the time as a student they do not want to see their teacher outside of school but when I see team members outside of school, they are always so excited to say hey, whether it be at the food store, the waterpark or the pool. I am someone that they can confide in and trust.”
Our dance team is more than a group that just performs; they are a symbol of school spirit, teamwork, and Panther pride. Everyone on this team has put in much effort to give us amazing performances at every varsity football and basketball game during halftime. Thank you, Pantherettes, for all the hard work you put forth to strengthen our school community.
