Balancing school life and social life can be challenging, especially with all of the classes, clubs, sports, and jobs. It is difficult and stressful trying to tackle it all.
According to Connections Academy, “Less than half of students feel they have an excellent or good school/life balance (45%), and more than a fourth (29%) with fair to very poor school/life balance feel it’s having a negative impact on their ability to start career planning.”
It can get overwhelming with time management and expectations. There are coping strategies students can use to help balance school life and social life: be on time with everything, be organized, make a set schedule, and strive towards goals. Planners are a good strategy. According to providenceready.org, “A planner allows you to plan out your weeks or days in advance. Once a task is finished, you can cross it off, helping you keep track of what things are done and what still needs attention.”
Many CFHS students are involved in many activities throughout the week. They balance their school life from their personal life.
Senior Leyla Hoagland shared, “I try to pace myself. I don’t spend my whole day after school doing school work. I work on the most important things, and then I give myself some me time.”
Clubs, sports and jobs can play a big role in balancing school life and personal life, but do they jeopardize students’ grades?
Junior Abigail Lamfers said, ”I tend to do an okay job at balancing everything, plus I only work 3 to 4 days a week so on my off days, I get all the school work I can done.”
Balancing school, work, and life alone can be challenging. However with time management, organization, and striving towards goals, it becomes more manageable. Time management is crucial if you are not on time with things you can get behind really fast. Organization is important. If things are organized, everything goes much smoother. Having goals can keep you on track and push you towards your dreams. These strategies can help your school life balance and will set a firm foundation for your future.
