Fall is the changing of the leaves, the warm sun, the cool crisp air, cozy blankets and sweaters, pumpkin spice and football. Fall is many people’s favorite season and where the coziness begins. Fall is also a season filled with fun activities. Horry County is hosting numerous events in the months of October.
Brookgreen Gardens will be hosting their annual Harvest Home Weekend on Oct. 4 and 5 at 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. The admission is free for members and is included in the garden admission for non-members and will be at the arboretum. Some of the activities within this event include decorating pumpkins, Small pumpkins cost $5, and large pumpkins cost $9. They also host scarecrow decorating contests, where you can bring your own outfits or get some there. It costs $7 to bring home your scarecrow unless you bring your own outfit.
The most exciting thing happening in fall is Halloween! In honor of Halloween, Horry County is hosting South Carolina Ghost & Legends II, which will be held on Wed, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m. at Horry County Museum. It is a free admission as it is a screening event and not a live performance.
The city of North Myrtle Beach and Coastal Carolina University Leadership Class are hosting the Halloween BOOnanza on Oct. 25, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. This event is open to the public. Children of all ages can attend but MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian, as well as having parent supervision. The Halloween BOOnanza will be held at the NMB Park and Sports Complex. The address is 150 Citizens Circle Little River, SC 29566. The price for admission is $5 for ages three and up and ages two and under get in free!
The City of Conway transforms itself into a haunting and magical adventure every fall. It is unofficially known as “Halloween, South Carolina.” There are massive skeletons, cobwebs, ghosts, and witch hats in unexpected areas, along with eye-catching displays like the pirate ship in the marina, giant mummies, and Tunnel of Bones. They also have a Fear Factor Haunted House, a frightfully fearful house full of fog and terrifying shrieks! Tickets are $25. There are also ghost walks with storytelling and a spooky atmosphere under the gigantic oak trees.
October is a be fun-filled months full of fun activities, from festive pumpkin-carving to spooky, unique attractions. It is a time for people to come together and celebrate the season’s cozy magic.
