Wonder

Ann Twigg, Advisor

Have you ever WONDERED what it would be like to have a physical disability since birth?  Have you ever WONDERED what it’s like to be bullied?  Have you ever WONDERED what life would be like without friends and family?

Some staff members and I ventured to Cinemark the other evening to see Wonder, a movie starring Owen Wilson, Julia Roberts, and 11-year-old Jacob Tremblay.  I first heard about the novel, written by R. J. Palacio, from my nephew, who was reading it for his middle school in NC.  Just his enthusiasm hooked my curiosity.  I ordered the book and told my staff about it, thinking we might could generate a news story from it.  I normally read before seeing any movie. For this one, I’m so glad I did not wait.

Shelbi Ankiewicz shared, “It was moving and heart-warming.  The movie showed that self-love is important and to embrace what you have.  I would definitely recommend seeing it.”

We shared many laughs, but many of us shed a few tears.

“Ms. Twigg handed us tissues, and they were definitely used.  The movie was so cute and aspires others to be confident in themselves,” added Jessica Mallo.

If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t hesitate.  Grab some Kleenex and be prepared to feel hugged.
