In a dystopian world where death is waiting at every corner, Maze Runner: The Death Cure will keep you on the edge of your seat! Heading into the movie theater with my chocolate almonds and Monster energy drink, I was anxious to find out how director Wes Ball would turn one of my favorite book trilogies into a movie series.

I first heard of James Dashner’s The Maze Runner series when I was in seventh grade. My older sister had read the books and introduced them to me. This, of course, led me to read the entire series when I was supposed to be studying for my French final. I immediately fell in love with the characters and the sci-fi aspects that completely blew my mind. Then, I learned about the first movie that was coming out, featuring Dylan O’Brien, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Ki Hong Lee.

As a fan of the books, I was nervous about turning them into a movie series due to previous book-to-movie disappointments like Percy Jackson and Divergent. However, despite the many differences in the movie compared to the book… honestly, Thomas was supposed to be ugly and then they chose Dylan O’Brien…,it was a fantastic film and a great conclusion to the movie series.

I highly recommend watching The Maze Runner and Maze Runner: Scorch Trials before buying your tickets for the last installment due to better understanding the story and gaining important context.
