I Love You

“I love you” rang through the silent room, sending the words to the person who sat on the other side.

“No, you don’t,” the person responded as it broke him; venom dripping with every word.

“I love you.” she cried trying to win his heart back.

“You never have.” he spat as he fell apart, piece by piece.

“Don’t leave me.” she cried throwing herself upon him. Holding onto the memories they shared with a tear falling down her rosy cheeks.

“I already am,” he stated as he glared over his shoulder at the girl who held onto him.

Before pushing her away as she pulled his heart’s strings, “I’m sorry.” she cried reaching for him and the past that sat in her thoughts.

“Why did you do it?” he asked with a pain in his broken and angry voice.

“I don’t know why,” she whispered as she thought of the mistake she made.

“Leave!” he yelled, as he could not bear the thought of letting her in … again.

“I love you,” she said one last time, as she left holding onto her past love with him.

“I love you, too,” he whispered after she left, with a stream of tears flowing down to his shattered heart. Those words lingered in the room, leaving behind a trail of a broken heart.
