Project Semicolon; “Your Story is Not Over”
March 17, 2019
Project Semicolon is a nonprofit organization that works to prevent suicide and aid those who are struggling with mental illnesses. Since it was founded in 2013, the organization has helped more than 5.2 million people and continues to support others every day.
Amy Bleuel, the founder of Project Semicolon, struggled with mental illness her whole life and wanted to find a way to help others who are struggling. Bleuel knew that if she could find a way to change at least one person’s life, then there was a chance that she could change more than just that one. Although she isn’t with us anymore, Bleual’s legacy will live on in the lives of so many others.
She showed this by saying, “Just don’t let them forget why I was here because that’s what’s important.”
Project Semicolon’s website offers an array of information that is hard to find elsewhere. The information is broken down to make it easy to find the root of one’s problem and answer any question he/she might have. There’s even a link to open the teen version of the website, which focuses solely on helping teenagers. A link to the Project Semicolon shop and donation center are also available.
Another amazing characteristic of Project Semicolon is that people can share their stories on the website. These stories are very inspirational and help others know that they’re not alone and recovery is possible. Reading one of these stories may give someone the courage to speak up and seek the treatment that they need.
Project Semicolon has saved so many lives and continues to do so every day. The organization is a big step towards shedding more light onto helping those who struggle with mental illnesses.
