Baby Ruth: A Poem About Babe Ruth
May 10, 2019
I was part of an octuplet, a Baby Ruth
Raised without proper parenting
They sent me to a special school
To learn vocational skills
Matthias was like a father
Where I had none
He taught me the All American Pastime
As it was my muse
A man came
Dunn was his name
Saw me play, adopted me
The other players called me his “Babe”
From Orioles to Red Sox to Yankees
More success with each
I was on the road to fame
I had become one of the greats
And gave a namesake for my team
I had 56 records to my name
60 home runs in one game, 714 total
My legacy will live on
