There is nothing like seeing a child’s smile spread across his/her face.

CFHS athletes are visiting local elementary schools this semester on Friday mornings of our home football games. Our  student athletes an opportunity to commingle with younger students to hopefully give them a more exciting start to their day.

“I love to go to the elementary schools; when we are escorting the kids out of the cars, we get to see their happy faces,” shares Julianna Carnucci, one of our cheerleaders.

“Going to the elementary schools is a great experience,” adds senior tight-end, Anthony Mauro. “Seeing the students’ faces light up when we are greeting them at the bus or car drop-off zone is a great feeling to have.”

This has turned out to be a wonderful way to end the school week, for both the high school and elementary students. Athletes are people  children can look up to, making them role models to help inspire and motivate the younger students.

“The students get so excited… they treat us like superheroes,” says cheerleader, Taryn Rivens. “We need to set a good example.”

The visits also make a strong impact on the elementary school teachers, parents and principals as well.

“Having the Carolina Forest High School football players and cheerleaders on the elementary campus at morning drop off and visiting classrooms has been heartwarming. Ocean Bay Elementary School truly enjoys partnering with our cluster schools. The relationships and interactions have a positive impact on all students involved and our faculty enjoys it too,” shares Ocean Bay Elementary Principal, Rebecca Schroyer.

Thank you, Palmetto Bays, River Oaks, Waccamaw, Carolina Forest and Ocean Bay Elementary, for allowing us to be a part of your Friday mornings!
