Dreams
January 27, 2020
I have a dream that one day I’ll be a bird
With wings so strong the wind can’t stop me
And the cage that now holds me will crumble away
So I will spread my wings and fly to the heavens.
If a bird can sing, why can’t I?
I am held down by chains just to feel pain
And it makes me wonder if I deserve this.
The longing and the struggle to leave burns
With a flame so bright it’s blinding
And roars with a yawp so loud, it’s deafening
But for now, I am a raven without a pen.
Will I ever be able to live my dream?
My sweet dream of flying with no destination
And of being free without a toll to pay.
Maybe I should kill it,
Or maybe I should peck at the bars of my cage
To make the metal crumble and fall,
So I will become a bird,
With wings stronger than ever before
So not even the wind will stop me.
