As February emerges, teenage girls at Carolina Forest High School update their wardrobe for the second semester. A myriad of confetti and animal print sweaters sashay across the hallways. Despite the cold weather, students desire to look presentable. Apricot Lane Boutique, Francesca’s, Red Dress Boutique are popular stores among the student body.

Apricot Lane Boutique opened in 2007; upon arrival, it became an instant sensation. As a result, Founder Ken Petersen generated a profitable income. In the spring of 2008, it was awarded the Hot Retail Concept for Fashion. According to Entrepreneur Magazine, Apricot Lane Boutique is one of the Top 50 Hot Franchises of The Year. In terms of clothing, Apricot Lane offers knit and cowl neck sweaters available online. Not to mention, they sell on-trend bell-bottoms and ankle boots. At the moment, Apricot Lane Boutique sells a variety of prom dresses for the upcoming spring season.

Junior Alyssa Caggiano explained, “I got my dress for prom at Apricot Lane Boutique. Additionally, my favorite purchase is a pair of blue, mom shorts. They have amazing clothes, and the ladies are sweet and helpful. One of the ladies recognizes me every time.”

In 1999, Chief Executive John De Meritt opened Francesca’s in Houston, Texas. Upon arrival, each article of clothing was hand-selected by the staff. Then, after a series of successful years, the franchise opened up 700 boutiques across the United States. Additionally, Francesca’s website offers a substantial amount of jumpsuits, rompers and wrap dresses to purchase online. 

Senior Sydney Sanderson is an avid shopper at the boutique. Sanderson explained, “Francesca’s sells cute clothes, and my favorite purchase is a distressed sweater.”

In 2005, Diana Harbour opened Red Dress Boutique in Athens, Georgia. After several years, Harbour lived the American Dream. Also, Red Dress Boutique received recognition after a successful appearance on “Shark Tank”.  Eventually, she sold retail online. Regarding fashion, Harbour’s business sells a variety of clothing and swimwear year-round. According to the Red Dress Boutique website, bell-bottoms and cowl neck sweaters are popular.
