Music Speaks

Music is a reflection of self. The music we make is a never ending story.  A song can make you cry or laugh; it can motivate or sadden. Even the beats of our hearts are songs that will one day find another whose melody match theirs.

We connect music to almost everything. We have a song with the special one we love. We have a song we hum when we’re walking and sing when we’re fed up.

According to SCLHEALTH, “ Music that gives us the chills helps to release dopamine, but a separate study found that people who intentionally listened to upbeat music improved their moods and happiness in just two weeks.”

Studies have shown that music listening has been linked to mood fluctuations and how we look at life.

Music persuades, relaxes and pleases us. No matter what we’re doing ,a song can make it go faster or make it feel like lighter work. A creator’s art goes on forever after life, especially one recited by mouth or instrument.

Sean O’Malley, one of our music instructors, shares, “Music can impact lots more than any amount of written words. More than anything in the world it expresses what we wouldn’t be able to communicate without the tune. A supreme way to show how we feel while getting it all out there in a way people can perceive as beautiful. I know in my life music has helped me destress and enjoy life.”

People from all walks of life listen to music…young and old. We all have our favorite singers and/or bands. Using music has a form of expression or as an outlet.

Senior Joseph Burkhardi says, “ Music helps me express what I need to say, you can take out all these negative emotions and make a beautiful piece. It can help push a message across without even needing words.”

No matter our story, no matter our mood, no matter our origin, music can bring us all together.
