Taylor Swift Owns Her Music

For years, Taylor Swift has been dominating the music industry, winning multiple Grammy awards. Since 2006, Swift’s music has been under ownership by record executive Scooter Braun. Recently, Swift has taken full ownership of her original songs and is releasing albums from her debut “Taylor Swift,” originally released in 2006, to album “Reputation” (2017).

Fans have been anticipating the renewed albums since the release of the album “Fearless.” With never before heard singles and new versions of hits, Taylor Swift is once again taking over the charts with her previous music.

So far, only two albums have been released since her double album release 2020 including “Fearless” and “Red.” The fairly recent release of “Red” in November allowed fans to experience the album’s effects and emotions in full swing.

“‘Red’ has definitely hit me hard this time,” says senior Maddie Zettergren. “I felt as though Taylor ripped my heart out, took me out to dinner, gave me relationship advice, gave me a hug after slapping me and then put my heart back in after kissing it and telling me everything will be okay.”

Swift has allowed for all of her newly released albums to be available on all music streaming platforms, free of charge. Before 2017, her music was only available via iTunes, Youtube and Pandora Music due to her record signing with Scooter Braun.

Releasing the albums is seen as a victory in Swift’s eyes. On her Instagram account, she writes, “Red is about to be mine again, but it has always been ours. Tonight we begin again.”

Discussing the victory she has over former record executive Scooter Braun has been one of Taylor’s biggest accomplishments of her career, according to her Instagram account.

Taylor Swift isn’t the only one celebrating this milestone of ownership. Her fans, also known as “Swifties,” have been celebrating and rejoicing over the accomplishments Swift has completed within the last year.

“It’s great to see Taylor finally own her music,” senior Curtis Lin adds. “I’m so proud of her; I feel like we’ve been waiting for [her success] forever.”

Swift plans to release her pop album “1989” in early 2022, following with “Speak Now.”
