As we roll into this holiday season, Spotify has released their annual Wrapped Campaign. The Spotify Wrapped playlists offers a great source of information about which artist was listened to the most during the year beginning on November 30. Listeners all over the world wait excitedly to see what songs were listened to the most.

It was announced that the top three most listened to artists are Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, and Drake. Each of these artists have brought joy to listeners across the country and globe.  The Wrapped Campaign is celebrating the artists, along with the listeners. 

The number one most streamed artist of 2022 is Bad Bunny for the third year in a row. The rapper is from Puerto Rico and has generated more than 18.5 billion streams so far on Spotify. The album “Un Verano Sin Ti” was the most streamed album worldwide this year. Spotify is promoting this Wrapped 2022 by celebrating Bad Bunny with billboards and posters. 

Tiffany Lopez , a junior at Carolina Forest added, “Bad Bunny has worked very hard this year with his tour and his new album “Un Verano Sin Ti. I think he deserved his spot at top stream artist, as his music is super catchy and never falls to make one dance. He has a different musical mindset, and his songs have great meaning behind them. He stays true to his Puerto Rican culture when creating music. I think I speak for most of his listeners who come from Latin backgrounds. He has changed the music industry, and we will miss him this upcoming year but can’t wait to see what he does next in 2024. ”

The number two globally most streamed artist of 2022 is Taylor Swift. Swift was the most streamed female artist of the year, too. This statistic also holds true for 2021. Her album “Midnights” is in fourth place, but this is an amazing  accomplishment due to the fact that the album dropped on October 21, and  Wrapped is posted  on November 30. Swift holds the title for most viral artist of the year, making her music the most frequently shared on Spotify. 

“I feel very happy that Taylor Swift is the second-most streamed artist. I think she deserves her ranking or even to be ranked as first  since she has worked hard for many years to produce multiple great albums that so many people love as an artist, ” Kierra Lordi, a junior at Carolina Forest added.

The number three spot of most streamed artists of 2022 is Drake. He has received more than 6.7 billion views this year. This is an amazing number to achieve by an artist. Drake being streamed this many times is no easy task for an artist. It is clear to see users of Spotify love to listen to rap music. 

Dylon Markferding, a sophomore at Carolina Forest High School, stated, “Drake is an amazing rapper and created music for fans across the world to enjoy. I believe he deserves to be in the top three most streamed artists this year.”

One of the best parts about the Wrapper Campaign is Spotify will create a customized playlist of individual listeners’ top songs to play at the end of each year. The listeners can keep these playlists year after year to have a collection of their favorite songs.
