Senioritis

As many seniors come to their last year of high school, many of these students experience senioritis. Senioritis is a common affliction that reflects the lack of motivation felt by students who are reaching the end of their classes.

Senioritis has many symptoms you can watch for. Some of them are loss of motivation, drop in grades, not completing assignments, procrastination, and even skipping classes. Although many seniors feel the need to not do anymore work there senior year, it’s highly important that you do.

Since senioritis hasn’t been professionally announced as a real scientific thing, there is no “real cure.” The only cure we can use is motivation.

Southern New Hampshire University stated, “ No student is the same, so a senioritis cure may look different for each individual.”

SNHU, also expressed, “…the first step to overcoming senioritis is to identify the symptoms; once you know what you’re up against, you can address the problems.”

Senior Morgan Williams said, “ You spent the past three years of your life cramming your brain with information. Finally, it is coming to an end and so people start to slack off because they are looking at the rainbow at the end of a storm, not the storm itself.”

Another senior, Sophia Magriniperez, expressed, “I feel like we all had this idea that senior year is supposed to be the most fun yet we are all taking part in so much and paying for so many things our senior year we didn’t even think about that we ended up burning out instead. I also feel like there are so many things to do senior year and we’re  trying to do as many things as we can with not a lot of time so most students just give up.”

Senioritis is a real thing and many people don’t think it’s a way for students to get lazy or have no motivation but other people disagree.

Senior Naomi Diegoalcantra commented, “I feel like it’s not real. I feel like people just do that when they get lazy.”

Seniors experience a roller coaster of emotions, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed with all the responsibilities of graduation. Don’t let senioritis ruin your last few months of high school.
