This year our Carolina Forest High School Teacher of the Year is Ms. Randi Aubry. Aubry’s hardwork and determination never goes unnoticed! She has been nothing but a pure, bubbly, happy, and uplifting person. Everyone who steps in her path is touched by a light of happiness. This is her fifth year teaching and has taught at CFHS all five years. Aubry teaches Special Education, moderate/severe intellectual disabilities in grades 9-12.
Aubry commented, “There are so many memories I have collected over the last five years of teaching. I love being able to laugh and be silly with my students and that is something we do everyday. I love witnessing my students make progress towards their goals and seeing how far they have come since entering high school.”
She makes her class enjoyable and fun while still teaching the intellectual students. Aubry makes sure every single student is comfortable and always makes them laugh.
Aubry mentioned, “It means the world to me that I won Teacher of the Year this year! I have planned and created many programs and events throughout my five years, but I do that all for the students. It is my goal to be the best teacher I can be for them and give them opportunities to grow, learn, and prepare them for life after high school. Being named teacher of the year does not just go to me; I feel that it has always been a team effort, and I cannot thank my paraprofessionals enough for everything they do for me and our students. It is truly a team effort, and I am happy to share this award with them. I also want to thank all the staff at CFHS for all the support and love they have shown me my students!”
Outside of school she loves to spend time with family and doing things with her niece. She also loves to be outside, including going to the beach. Another comment Aubry made is she loves to travel and go to country concerts.
Aubrey added, “One specific memory that makes me smile is when we turned my classroom into a Mexican restaurant for Cinco De Mayo. My students learned about working in a restaurant and each of them had a role to play in the restaurant. We invited principals and some teachers to “dine in” with us, and I remember how amazing each of my students did with their jobs. They worked so hard before opening day, and it definitely paid off!”
We can see that Ms. Aubry loves what she does and never gives up. Our school wouldn’t be the same without her. We are so thankful for everything she has ever done for the school. If you ever see her around campus, make sure you congratulate her for winning Teacher of the Year.
