Stanley Takeover

Stanley+Takeover

Around 2019, Hydroflask started to become popular because of the VSCO Era. It was the water bottle every person wanted or had. Teenagers, especially girls, started to buy these water bottles and use metal straws to “save the turtles” and stop polluting the water. The water bottles would get decorated with stickers or have friendship bracelets attached to them.  Over the years, there have been many different versions of the Hydro Flask, such as Yeti, Stanley, and Owala. They all serve the same purpose and teens and adults are always buying the new one that comes into trend.  However, the Stanley brand has come into its own the past year or so.

Many people do not realize that Stanleys have been around for over a hundred years. They were established in 1913 and recently have gained even more popularity through social media than before. Stanleys have turned into the new Hydro Flask that was once super popular and replaced them. These past few months teenagers worldwide have been buying the Stanleys because of their look and the colors. Most have a handle and a straw and the cups come in multiple sizes such as 14, 20, 30, and 40 ounces.

Emily Waters, a junior, stated, “I have two Stanleys and two Hydro Flasks, but the Hydro Flask works better. I just like how the Stanleys look, so I use those more.”

The Stanleys are also good for your car because of their circular bottom. They are designed to fit perfectly in your car’s cup holder, whereas other water bottles may not. This can be frustrating to people when they are on the go and want to put it somewhere without leaking.

Hayley Mayer, a junior, expressed, “I have multiple Hydro Flask and a Stanley. But I like the Hydro Flask better because it’s portable, but the Stanley is prettier.”

Many people will choose the better-looking water bottle over the one that works the best because they are trend followers.

Overall, buying a reusable water bottle will help the ecosystem reduce plastic. It just depends on which brand you like more and if you want to have a better-looking bottle or one that works better.
