Over 250 million players play soccer worldwide, making it one of the most popular sports in the world! Soccer is all about teamwork, techniques, cooperation, and endurance. Playing this active sport can have many benefits: it helps reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, and it also can improve physical fitness.
At Carolina Forest High School, the 2024 spring season is here, which means the boy’s and girls’ soccer teams are back at it again!
Jeff Goodman coaches our girl’s soccer team. Goodman has coached the girl’s soccer for two years. There are a total of 20 girls on the soccer team.
Goodman stated, “The season has been challenging so far. Our goal this year is to win the regions. I enjoy the camaraderie on this team, and coaching for the girl’s soccer team is a fun bunch to coach.”
Our girl’s soccer team has so far won two games this season against South Florence and Bluffton. In the South Carolina Division AAAAA Ranking, our girl’s soccer team is ranked at 24.
“I like the team aspect of soccer the most for sure. I definitely wouldn’t be playing soccer if I didn’t love spending time with my teammates,” expressed senior Rachel Durkin.
The next home game is on March 22, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. against Socastee!
Meanwhile, the boy’s soccer team is coached by Gene Dougherty. There are a total of 28 boys on the soccer team.
Currently, our boy’s soccer team has won four games this season against Socastee, North Myrtle Beach, St. James, and Westside. In the South Carolina Division AAAAA Ranking, our boy’s soccer team is ranked 22.
Sophomore Anthony Helms shared, “I enjoy getting to be on and off the field with my teammates. We love to joke around and have fun together.”
The boy’s next home game is on March 19, 2024, at 7:15 p.m. against Conway!
