On April 23, Carolina Forest High School’s (CFHS) Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) sponsored a Fields of Faith event at CFHS. It was a fun gathering with testimonies, music, food and fellowship. Fields of Faith is a student-led event where students get the opportunity to gather with others and share personal stories and meet new people who share the same faith.
Established in 1954, The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a nationally recognized organization for middle school, high school, and colleges across the country. While Fields of Faith is one night, FCA is ongoing discipleship, encouragement, and leadership development. FCA holds meetings every Tuesday in the mini-gym, and all students are invited to join.
Carolina Forest’s FCA has faculty sponsors who oversee FCA and help guide the students. These sponsors are Brodie Hillman, David Lovette, and Ann Twigg.
Pastor Matt Smith, a leader and youth minister at Myrtle Beach Christian Church, is the FCA youth minister and manages the leadership officers each week for a Monday devotion and plans for the FCA meetings.
“My prayer is that Fields of Faith would awaken something real in students. Not just hype for one night, but a genuine encounter with Jesus Christ that changes the direction of their life. Fields of Faith creates a space where the Gospel is clearly preached, where students see their peers boldly living out their faith, and where they realize they are not alone,” Pastor Matt shared.
Over 400 students and community members had an amazing time at Fields of Faith, walking away feeling encouraged and excited about their faith.
Among these students is senior and FCA member, Karleigh Floyd, who shared her experience.
“Fields of Faith is such a big deal to me because it’s an amazing opportunity to charge Christ with other people my age who may not know him or have a deep relationship with him. My favorite part of the event was definitely the altar call. Getting to witness so many teenagers sitting in the presence of God and praying together was so heartwarming.”
Fields of Faith was an amazing opportunity for students to share their love of Christ and spend an evening without judgment. FCA invites all students to come together and join them. Fields of Faith is a reminder that no matter your faith or background, there is always a place for you.
