Lilly Hortis, Co-Editor

Carolina Forest High School has a myriad of great teachers who genuinely care about our students and school.

24 of our own teachers at  CFHS were nominated by their peers for Teacher of the Year: Allison Prol, Ann Twigg, Antonia Boyle, Camille Edwards, Delanie Sage, Jason Capuzzi, Jen Hodges, Jenna Mason, Jesse Patrick, Kay Sellers, Lauren Steers, Lisa Hanley Johnson, Maggie McHugh, Matt Perdue, Meghan Norris, Morgan Bane, Nichole David, Norman Quick, Patrick Rabon, Paul Sapp, Rose Schneider, Terri Cox, Tommy Mendenhall and Wendy Schultheis.

The winner for 2019-20 is  Morgan Bane, an English teacher at Carolina Forest High School.

Morgan Bane is an alumna of Carolina Forest High School and has been a teacher at CFHS for seven years. Her years spent at CFHS is part of what inspired her to become a teacher.

“I always had amazing teachers my whole life, so it was really those strong women who I looked up to and wanted to be like. Some of them are still on this campus today,” comments Bane.

There is no denying that Bane earned the title she received. Fellow teachers and students here at CFHS have nothing but good to say about her.

Senior Lexi Acree states, “Especially for being such a young educator, Mrs.Bane is a really caring, talented teacher who genuinely takes pride in this what shoes does. There is nothing she deserves more than this award.”

Bane herself is very surprised and thrilled to be named the CFHS Teacher of the Year.

Bane shares, “I have never been in this career for any type of recognition, but it definitely feels so amazing to know that others recognize the hard work I do. Being Teacher of the Year is something I have always aspired to achieve.”

Bane, along with 54 other teachers from Horry County, was recognized by their peers for Teacher of the Year of their schools and are now eligible to be named the HCS Teacher of the Year. Ten semi-finalists will be chosen by the District’s Teacher of the Year Selection Committee. The group narrows the semifinalist down to five finalists who will then be up to compete to be named the 2020-2021 HCS Teacher of the Year.

Congratulations and good luck to all teachers!
