Fields of Faith is a national,  student-led event that includes fellowship and prayer and hearing God’s Word through multiple speakers that is held at high school and college stadiums.

For the past three years, it has been held at St. James High School’s football stadium, providing a neutral rally point where Horry and Georgetown communities can come together. St. James and Socastee High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes organizes Fields of Faith every year. On November 6, 2500 were in attendance.

Hannah Ferrel is a student FCA leader at St. James, and she enjoyed helping to plan this event.

Ferrel said, “My favorite part is getting together with the community, friends, and planning such a big event just for God to shine his light. The end of Fields of Faith is always the best part because we give people in the stands the opportunity to come down to the field and basically give their lives to Jesus.”

Fields of Faith included high school student testimonies, a student- led skit, worship, prayer and speaker Algernon Tennyson.

Tennyson is the founder and president of Awaken International Ministries. He was born and raised in Georgia and still lives there. During Fields of Faith Tennyson shared his personal testimony on how Jesus changed his life.

We had several Panther students participated in the event. Junior Ethan Hillman, one of our FCA student leaders, attended.

Hilman explained, “I enjoyed learning how other people grew closer to God and the situations of their testimonies that they preached.”

Emma Hamilton is a junior who attended as well.

Hamilton added, “Fields of Faith was a great experience and to see how many Christian students and families come together was really cool.”

John Rickenbacker, FCA Coastal Area Director for Horry and Georgetown Counties, commented, “The spirit was enthusiastic and uplifting, student testimonies were personal and stimulating, the music by students was lively and joyful, and the speaker, Algernon Tenneyson, was insightful and encouraging. When students came into the stadium, adult volunteers were lined up on both sides of the sidewalk and cheered and clapped for them as they came through the line… 60 or 70 ft of cheers and thrills. I don’t know of another place where students are being cheered in such a way. They’re more used to jeers than cheers these days.”

Towards the end of the event, Tennyson invited people in the stands who made the prayer of accepting Jesus into their hearts to the field. The field quickly filled with newly- saved, young people, family members, along with groups of friends. Approximately 275 people were saved.

Overall, Fields of Faith is an incredible experience to see a community come together and fill a high school football stadium with people and their love for Jesus. It is an event not to be missed.

Don’t forget our FCA meets every Tuesday during lunch in the mini gym or Tech 3 (Ms. Twigg’s classroom).
