As spring sports come to a close, the Panther Nation would like to highlight the wonderful accomplishments of our teams. Through blood, sweat, and tears, the teams were able to persevere bringing many titles and awards back to the Forest.

Baseball: The CFHS men’s baseball team has recently been awarded the Region 6 Championship title, as well as holding a record of 22-3. The team started conditioning after returning from Christmas break and has been constantly working on the mound on everything from pitching to improving cardio, forming them into the number one team in the region.

Coach Maness shares, “They have done everything the coaching staff has asked them to do;  pitched well, played great defense and hitting has improved as the year has progressed.”

Men’s Golf:  Myrtle Beach is known as one of the top golf capitals of the world. Therefore, it isn’t surprising that we usually have a skilled and enthusiastic golf team.

Men’s Soccer: The men’s soccer team currently holds a record of 7-1 in the region and are ranked 1st in the 5A Region 6. One of their most recent games ended in a victory 4-1 against Sumter.

Coach Gene Dougherty states, “We have improved as both individuals and a team at least 1% everyday.”

Women’s Soccer: The CFHS women’s soccer team is ranked third in the 5A Region 6 with a current record of 4-4. The Lady Panthers pulled through with a 4-0 win over Sumter in one of their most recent games.

“Our team had improved as we got to know each other better throughout this season.Although we did not do as well as most of us on the team would’ve liked, we’ve definitely grown a relationship with each other and made the most of our season this year,” comments varsity player Rachel Durkin.

Softball: Currently the women’s softball team holds a record of 6-6 with double digit wins and over 170 runs scored. The team is currently ranked third in the 5A Region 6 and had a playoff appearance. Recently, the Panthers came home with a 16-5 victory over Socastee.

Coach Howard adds,“It takes time to change a culture, but the team is beginning to see the rewards of putting the team first, and the importance of each person doing their job.”

Men’s Tennis: The CFHS men’s tennis team ended their season with a record of 7-7 and the title of  co-region champions.

Men’s Lacrosse: The men’s lacrosse team is paving the way with a current record of 6-9 in the region and are ranked 3rd in 5A Region 5. Our Panthers came home with a 12-4 win over North Myrtle Beach after using the home field advantage to pull through with a victory.

Varsity player Lawson Barnes states, “ The team overcame all the challenges this season threw at us together from canceled games to not having our head coach for a game.”

Women’s Lacrosse: The Lady Panthers are currently holding strong with a record of 5-5 and are ranked 3rd in 5A Lower District 5. Most recently they brought home a win over St. James with a score of 15-10, making it to the playoffs with a home field advantage.

“Our team has grown together an extreme amount. We went from not being a team and not being able to work together to becoming super close and knowing how each one of us play,” shares varsity player Jenna Graziano.

Track and Field: One of the largest teams at Carolina Forest is the track and field team, which has athletes ranging anywhere from sprinters, shotput and discus throwers, hurdlers, and even pole vaulters. Throughout the season, many team members broke personal records and tried new events creating a broader range for the team and improving the atmosphere.

Senior Mckenzie Merritt states, “We have definitely grown a closer bond, and everyone has improved so much since the beginning of the season from PR’s to some of us breaking the school records.”

It was a successful spring season in The Forest; teams brought home many victories as well as regional championships titles. The Panther’s are eager to see what our fall season holds.
