“That 90s Show” is a recent TV show release, which is a reboot of the hit series “That 70s Show,” popular TV show in the early 2000s that centered around Eric Forman and his friends, Donna, Fez, Kelso, Jackie and Hyde. The show not only displays the mishaps that the group had gone through but also allows the viewers to see the teens as they grow up.

In the updated series, Leia Forman, Eric and Donna’s daughter, has gone to visit her grandparents for a week in Point Place, Wisconsin. After becoming best friends with her neighbor Gwen and meeting her friends, she soon after asks her parents to stay with her grandparents for the summer.

Throughout the show, we watch Leia go through some of her first teenage experiences with friends, finally seeing her grow as a person and gain more independence from her parents. She also encounters her first romantic feelings, and the viewers see how she handles the situations.

“That 90s Show” quickly rose on the Netflix charts because of it being a spin-off of “That 70s Show.” It caught the attention of many different viewers, not only the ones who have watched “That 70s Show.” Many of the actors in the TV series have also been in many different movies and shows that attracted new viewers.

Many people are huge fans of this show because of the nostalgia and the cameos from the original cast members. Also, people feel as if the characters are very relatable, and it is nice to see era-specific trends and products.

Rahiem Fraser, a sophomore, claims, “I personally never watched “That 70s Show,” but it seemed interesting, and I thought it wouldn’t hurt to try it. I think the show was funny and was worth the watch. I’m glad I ended up watching it! ”

While the show was well-loved amongst most viewers, it also has its fair share of more controversial feelings. According to the streaming news site “Cinemablend,”some previous viewers feel as if the show didn’t give “That 70s Show” justice, while others think that the show did not create an accurate portrayal of the 90s.

Savannah Moore, one of our Coastal Carolina University interns, says, “I prefer ‘That 70s Show’ just because the comedy and humor in the older version are more satirical and funny to me. I think ‘That 90s Show’ was good at giving the same scenery and characters and making it similar to the original show, but the comedy felt a little forced at times, unlike in the original.”

If this show gets renewed for a second season, It will be interesting to watch how they will continue to portray the characters as they get older.
