The Presidential Inauguration is an important event for our country that occurs only every four years. As American citizens, we have the privilege to vote for who leads our country. On Monday, January 20, 2025, President Trump was inaugurated into office for the 2025-2029 term.
The inauguration was an immense deal in America; this year’s day was no exception. It was an all-day event with many influential people in attendance. Some of these people included Joe Rogan, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Sundar Pichal, Elon Musk, Jake Paul, and many more.
Something that was highlighted in the news after this inauguration was Carrie Underwood’s performance. Due to technical difficulties, she had to sing “America the Beautiful” a capella, and her fans and the people watching were amazed at her talent.
In a news article about Underwood’s performance, “NBC Chicago 5″ on states “Social media praised Underwood for her performance despite the technical snafu.”
A first-time voter from Carolina Forest, Jalee Cala, shared, “Watching President Trump’s inauguration as a first-time voter was a surreal experience. It felt like stepping into a new chapter of American politics and having a voice in the process for the first time. Regardless of political views, it was hard not to feel the weight of the moment and the significance of being part of something so historic.”
On the day of, it began with the vice president’s swearing-in ceremony, along with the president’s swearing-in ceremony after that we witnessed the inaugural address. This was followed by the honorary departure of the outgoing president/vice president, along with the signing ceremony. Afterwards, the new president signed nominations, memorandums, proclamations, or executive orders. After that the the inaugural luncheon took place. Then the pass in review, during which the president and vice president reviewed military troops, ending with the presidential parade which took place at Capital One arena in downtown Washington due to the cold.
Sarah Brown, a history teacher at Carolina Forest, watched the inauguration and said, “When I watch the inauguration, I try to focus on being hopeful that it is a fresh start. I majored in political science in college, so I enjoy analyzing political behavior and acknowledge the tradition and importance that an inauguration means for our country.”
This event only occurs every four years and is a historical moment for Americans as someone new takes the chair in The White House as our new president. We have the privilege to vote on who runs our country for each term, so watching the chosen president be inaugurated into the chair is a significant moment.
