Trader Joe’s is a nation-wide grocery store chain that provides unique, private-label products for cheap prices. Since it is set up like this, it is a fan favorite.
Before, people in Myrtle Beach would have to travel to Wilmington, N.C. or Charleston, S.C. to find the nearest Trader Joe’s. Now, the City of Myrtle Beach heard about the high demand by residents and opened a Trader Joe’s. It opened in September 2025, and it has already seen huge success.
During its grand opening, hundreds of people were lined up before the opening time of 9:00 a.m. ready to shop.
Since Trader Joe’s is such a unique grocery store, there are multiple fan favorites products. Students at Carolina Forest High School have talked about the off-brand Takis, called the Trader Joe’s Rolled Corn Tortilla Chips. They also talk about the flowers sold there.
Ann Twigg is a teacher at CFHS and an avid Trader Joe’s shopper.
“I’ve been a fan of Trader Joe’s for many years, and I’m beyond excited that we now have one in Horry County. In the past, I’d always set aside shopping at Trader Joe’s when I was in Charlotte, Charleston, or Wilmington. The store is full of unique, high-quality products, and I love that they offer healthy options and fresh produce with affordable pricing. It’s grocery shopping fun.”
Elena Preciado, a freshman, agrees that Trader Joe’s is very different from other grocery stores.
“I really like their pumpkin squash. I think that’s seasonal, and it’s really really good. I also really like the Takis. I just feel bougie when I shop there and I feel like everything is way healthier.”
Trader Joe’s has many benefits to both shoppers and employees. They offer cheap prices with private labels that you won’t find anywhere else. They also offer a great benefits package to employees that include medical, dental, and vision coverage. Employees get a large employee discount, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
Noah Pettijohn, a sophomore, enjoys the organic, healthy, and different options that Trader Joe’s has to offer. He liked to visit the Charleston store before the opening of the one nearby.
“The Scandinavian Swimmers are my favorite thing to purchase. They are just organic Sour Patch Kids and that’s my favorite candy,” shared Pettijohn.
People have also loved the reusable bags sold at Trader Joe’s. They have seasonal and unique bags that are customized for each state.
Trader Joe’s is a wonderful new addition to Myrtle Beach that has many residents excited. Everyone should check out the store at some point and purchase the students at Carolina Forest most favorite thing: The Trader Joe’s Rolled Corn Tortilla Chips.
