Are you into performing arts? Do you like to dance? Well, the Pantherettes Dance Team is just what you’re looking for at Carolina Forest High School. CFHS has a dance team that performs during football and basketball seasons, including pep rallies and competitions!! This team is about teamwork, techniques, dedication, and showing off skills and being able to improve.
Dance can create a form of expression through physical movements. It helps people relieve stress, anxiety, anger, sadness, or other emotions. Dance also improves strength and muscle and even helps with self-confidence. The CFHS dance team is a great way to express yourself.
The Dance Team coach is Jennifer Corvino and the assistant coaches are Coach Molly and Coach Hailey!! The team captain is Senior Taylor Kelley. Jennifer Corvino has danced for 10 years. Taylor Kelley has danced for 15-16 years.
“I like how you can get exercise by having fun and dancing,” Corvino expresses. “Whenever a good song comes on, I’m always dancing and it helps me relieve stress.”
During dance practices, they learn hip-hop and pom dances that will be performed during halftime in Varsity football and basketball games. As of right now, practices are on Wednesdays (3:30 to 5:00 p.m.) and Fridays (3:30 – 5:30 p.m.) There are also mandatory lunches and optional practices. Tryouts for the 2024-2025 season are coming up soon in May. So make sure to get your physicals before tryouts!! They do fundraisers to help raise money for the dance team.
Freshman Savanna Atha says, “ I love how everyone on the team is so supportive, and we all put in hard work to be able to perform and overall have a good.”
