As the halls filled with twinkling lights and the excitement of winter break approached, Carolina Forest High School was shining bright as students took the stage with the lineup of holiday shows that captured the spirit of the season. Our choirs, orchestra and band all hosted their annual Christmas performances, and they did an amazing job!
During our choirs show titled “ Holiday Spectacular,” the students and audience were visited by two very important Christmas icons, Santa Claus and The Grinch! The Grinch showed up when Charlie Hawkins was singing the song, “ You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” and Santa kicked off the show and made several appearances during the performances, including turning the showcase students into little toy soldiers. The Showcase and Show choir brought the holiday spirit in their dances, vocals, and all-around experience!
Senior Showcase performer, Riley Hinz, has been a part of The Showcase since freshman year.
“It felt bittersweet knowing that I wouldn’t be able to do any of these dances again, even though every year has different people, Each show is great and special to me, however I am doing this show again for an elementary school and performance for the student body so, it wasn’t my last performance. The holiday show gives me a sense of nostalgia and tradition for not only Christmas, but my entire time here at CF, since we have always done mostly the same show each year,” stated Hinz.
Hinz also shared how long it takes for them to prepare and perfect the Christmas show.
“Our holiday season is always our busiest and we start working the day after our fall shows, which are always on one of the last weeks of October, so normally around November 1st, we begin learning all the music and choreography. We work each day of class and have two rehearsals a week that last about two hours.”
Ty Aldridge is a sophomore drummer for band.
“A Christmas show typically takes two-three weeks of prep beforehand. This is a short amount of time due to the easier, more enjoyable pieces for the audience. This holiday show means an easier concert that I can enjoy a little bit more without having to practice the pieces a hundred times beforehand. It also helps to get people into the Christmas spirit!” commented Aldridge.
From festive music and live choreography to heartfelt performances, these productions showcased the talent and hard work of our students and faculty. Thank you for sharing some holiday magic.
